RugCalc is a free, ad-supported tool site that helps you size rugs, rooms, and furniture in seconds — without signing up, without being tracked, and without guesswork.

We kept re-doing measurement math by hand — so we built free tools to do it for everyone.

What we do

We build simple, fast calculators for a specific question: "what size do I need?" Our first tool is the rug size calculator, and we're adding more measurement tools over time.

Who operates RugCalc

RugCalc is an independent home-improvement measurement project operated by a small team of builders and DIYers. tongboiot.com is our primary domain — the "IoT" name reflects our original engineering focus, while RugCalc is the brand under which we publish free home-measurement tools and guides. We built this site because we kept re-doing the same measurement math by hand, and we wanted a fast, free, no-signup tool for everyone else too.

Where our numbers come from

Rug sizing is based on well-established interior-design placement rules (the 18–24 inch rule for beds, the front-legs rule for living rooms, the 24-inch rule for dining tables) and on standard US residential rug and furniture dimensions. These are stable, verifiable facts — not opinions. Every calculator page shows the formula behind the result with a worked example, so you can check the math yourself.

How we keep it accurate

Formulas and reference values are reviewed against published standards before release.
Each page carries a "last updated" date.
Results are estimates for planning; we always advise confirming final dimensions with your supplier before ordering.

Your privacy

RugCalc calculators run entirely in your browser. We don't store your measurements, we don't require an account, and we don't collect personal data to run the tools. See our privacy policy for details.
